The ScaleUp Institute with the London Stock Exchange, and the Greater Manchester Ecosystem, including Manchester Digital and the Greater Manchester Business Growth Hub, alongside our key partners, are hosting a ScaleUp Summit under the banner ScaleUp Britain on the afternoon of the 10th September 2024 at Manchester Technology Centre.

This will be open to all scaling businesses from across Greater Manchester and the North West across all sectors, as well as ecosystem players.

The summit will delve into the funding landscape and options to raise capital in 2024 and beyond; providing insights on new initiatives to tap into private capital and access a broader and deeper investor pool, including institutional capital in an easier, simpler way whilst remaining private, while you grow.

It will discuss the opportunities to access markets and R&D opportunities through collaboration with Innovate UK both at home and abroad; and provide tips and insights on developing an effective board and advisory network to support scaleup growth.

The afternoon programme will include expert insights from:

  • Marcus Stuttard, Head of AIM and Primary Markets, London Stock Exchange on the latest developments in capital markets; listing rules and the new platforms of PISCES and FLOWW that will be open to scaleup businesses to access a broader community of investors in a more seamless efficient manner and open up liquidity to you.
  • Angelene Woodland, Chief Customer Officer, British Business Bank, who will discuss the newly launched Long Term Investments for Technology and Science Fund alongside developments on a UK Growth Fund; and their ongoing work with the private sector in local programmes to support scaleup growth across all sectors.
  • Dr Liza Hazelden, Chief Product Officer, Innovate UK, who will provide the latest insights on market access through Innovate UK and their growth and investor services.
  • University leaders who will discuss how they are ‘Stepping Up’ from SpinOut to ScaleUp and clusters.
  • Guidance from leading experts on ‘Building a Scaleup Brand and Board’, including Margaret Rice-Jones, former chair of SkyScanner; Confused.com; Cate Poulson, COO, Excelerator Partners.
