The National Festival of Making Conference 2018

Festival of Making 2018

Following an incredible 2017, the second edition of the National Festival of Making will return to Blackburn, Lancashire, on 12 and 13 May 2018. Ed Matthews-Gentle of Creative Lancashire sets out the opportunities the festival offers to the county's businesses.

In the days surrounding the weekend celebration, Creative Lancashire will present the National Festival of Making Conference programme, in association with partners such as Crafts Council, Lancashire Skills Hub and GF Smith, to name a few. These are a series of events aimed at professional creative practitioners, makers and those working in related industries or connected fields. Our events we will explore the relationship between making, skills, and new or emerging technologies, through a variety of applications, interventions and interactions with arts and crafts.

Our Business Innovation Growth Symposium day is 17 May, where the focus of discussions will be:

  • The crucial role of creativity and making in helping businesses to innovate and solve problems.
  • The skills we need to teach now, in readiness for our “factories of the future”.
  • How creative skills are applied in industry and their role in supply chain innovation.

We’ve got a diverse and interesting range of speakers, exhibitions and screenings to inspire Lancashire businesses. You can find out more about the various events that make up the conference programme by reading our brochure or visiting https://bigconference.co.uk/.
