Wyre Business Awards

Wyre Council has launched its ninth annual Wyre Business Awards and has partnered with Boost; Lancashire’s Business Growth Hub to recognise fast-growing businesses through the Boost Growth Business of the Year Award.

The Wyre Business Awards is an annual celebration of business excellence in Wyre and brings together hundreds of people from businesses across the borough to celebrate their passion, expertise and contribution to Wyre’s economic development.

The Boost Growth Business of the Year Award will sit alongside 13 other award categories for business excellence including Team of the Year, the Corporate Social Responsibility Award, Social Media Award and Micro Business of the Year.

Last year, Thornton-Cleveleys-based international transport provider Sid Hill Transport was crowned Boost Growth Business of the Year, as well as Business Person of the Year and Small Business of the Year.

Joanne Hill, finance and HR director at Sid Hill Transport said about last year’s success: "We were absolutely made up to receive the three awards on the night. It’s been a real morale boost for everyone.

“We really put our hearts and souls into the applications, and we thought the time was right for us as we had achieved so much in a short space of time. These awards are testament to all the staff who work so hard, and we are pleased that we were able to obtain recognition for them."

Among the other winners was Poulton-Le-Fylde-based recruitment and management consultancy Sustainable Talent, which won Business Start Up of the Year. The winner of Micro Business of the Year was Garstang-based Wyreside Mushrooms, a gourmet and functional mushroom suppliers.

Andrew Leeming, programme manager, Boost said: “The Wyre Business Awards is a great opportunity for local businesses to gain public recognition for their achievements and services. It can be instrumental to boosting a business’s visibility in the public domain and growing their business.

“Not only this, but an event such as the Wyre Business Awards offers business owners and partners an invaluable opportunity to network with fellow business owners and the local business community.

“We’re excited to have this opportunity to partner with Wyre Council and celebrate Wyre businesses. We’re especially looking forward to seeing the finalist for this year’s growth business of the year.”
