A series of free events will be held in Blackpool in February and March as part of a campaign to help start-up businesses in the town. Boost, Lancashire’s £7.8m business growth hub, is backing Blackpool Council’s Get Started campaign and will offer events aimed specifically at new and fledgling businesses.

The sessions, to be delivered by Winning Pitch, will focus on issues including business planning, identifying training and finance needs, and sales and marketing strategies. Rona McFall, head of entrepreneurial solutions at Winning Pitch, said: “It’s vital we offer start-up businesses the support they need to develop into viable, job-creating businesses. “We’re pleased to be working with Blackpool Council to deliver these joint events for Blackpool start-ups.

These sessions are all about sharing the building blocks these businesses need to put in place to achieve growth.” Cllr Mark Smith, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Enterprise and Economic Development, said: “Blackpool has long had a reputation for creating entrepreneurs – people with bright ideas who are prepared to turn them into viable businesses. “Through initiatives such as Blackpool’s Get Started initiative we’ve ensured there’s expert help available to turn hundreds of good ideas into sound businesses. “We are delighted to be linking up with Boost, Lancashire’s Business Growth Hub to offer even more support and sound advice to budding entrepreneurs.”

The events, to take place at the Blackpool Enterprise Centre, Lytham Road, include:

Business Model Canvas – Developing a clear plan on how to grow your idea - Monday 19th February, 5.30pm to 8.30pm

Vision Orbit – Road Map to Success - Monday 26th February, 5.30pm to 8.30pm

Plan, Pitch and Sell - Monday 5th March, 5.30pm to 8.30pm

The sessions are part of a wider series of events included in Blackpool Council’s New Year New Start Campaign. Other events in the series include drop-in sessions for start-ups, financial management workshops advice on digital marketing and business support surgeries designed to match local businesses with relevant support providers.
