Boost Q&A: Celia Gaze, The Wellbeing Farm

Celia Gaze The Wellbeing Farm 2022

Celia Gaze is the founder of The Wellbeing Farm in Edgeworth, near Blackburn. Operated from converted farm buildings, Celia's business offers a venue and facilities for corporate events, weddings and special family occasions, as well as a great location for company days out and wellbeing activities.

Recently The Wellbeing Farm won the Sustainable Business award in the 2022 Enterprise Vision Awards and was awarded the Green Business of the Year award at BIBAs 2022.

It is also the first events venue in the UK to achieve B Corp Certification. Celia shares her business inspirations, the Boost support she received and why Lancashire is a great place to do business.

What support did you receive from Boost and how has it helped you and your business?

I’ve received growth funding support and financial support towards delivering a sustainability event ‘Business As a Power For Good’ for Lancashire business owners. The support has been invaluable in enabling me to mix with other business owners, seek mentoring advice for business growth and to enable me to deliver a largescale event.

What piece of advice stood out the most during your Boost support?

You’ve got to stand out and differentiate your business from the crowd – be the purple cow. To do that it’s about continuously reviewing your customer service, your marketing and your systems and processes and keep continually improving.

Who has been your biggest business inspiration and why?

My mentor Victor Giannandrea who as been a source of tremendous support and help and has kept me on my toes. Discovering the powerful combination of wellbeing, sustainability and fun too and how those elements underpin so many areas in business.

What motivates you in business and why?

I absolutely love the freedom you get as an entrepreneur. As a business owner, you get to decide what happens to your business – how you think and what you do is critical. We are on a mission for The Wellbeing Farm to be seen as the most authentic, sustainable and memorable venue in the UK.

How do you like to start your working day?

I do a morning routine called ‘Miracle Morning’ which is a mixture of journalling, reading, walking the dog, meditation, affirmations, visualisation – it completely sets me up for the day. Also must start the day with a latte!

Why is Lancashire a great location for a business?

It’s bang in the centre of the UK with great accessibility and fantastic connections. The people you meet are really authentic, helpful, down to earth and super friendly.

What would you say to someone who is considering using Boost?

Without a doubt I’d highly recommend it. Boost's programme manager Andrew Leeming has great style and personality and the Boost team are a force to be reckoned with. Boost is an absolutely brilliant resource of help, events, networking opportunities and so much more.

What is your advice for anyone looking to grow a business?

Start with contacting Boost as your first step! Try and look to grow a business around doing something you love and then it will never feel like work.
