Boost Q&A: Andrew Nuttall, Adlington Law

Andrew Nuttall Adlington Law

Andrew Nuttall is the operations manager at Adlington Law, a family run law firm based in Chorley that is committed to providing a reliable, professional and above all, friendly service to its clients.

The award-winning firm won the Best Conveyancer of the Year Award at the 2023 national Equity Release Awards and is a finalist for the Professional Service Business of the Year award at BiBAs 2023 and for the Family Business of the Year award at the EVA’s 2023. In 2019 the business engaged with Boost and through business adviser Sue Denver, it accessed the Boost Bespoke Programme.

They have since maintained contact with Boost and more recently Sue introduced Andrew to the Boost Growth Support Service. Andrew shares his business inspirations, the Boost support he received and why Lancashire is a great place to do business.

What support did you receive from Boost and how has it helped you and your business?

I had personalised support from Boost business adviser Sue Denver who then made introductions to support programmes and businesses who could help us move forward. Sue also highlighted certain training courses and events that may be of use to staff to help us fill any gaps in knowledge and understanding.

Boost helped us grow during challenging times such as the Covid-19 lockdowns and market crashes. Sue is always there at the end of the phone to bounce ideas off too. She is a massive asset to Boost and we couldn’t thank her enough for her guidance and support during a challenging time.

What piece of advice stood out the most during your Boost support?

Sue basically said do not try and do too much. Focus on what we do well and stay true to that.

Who has been your biggest business inspiration and why?

Our biggest business inspiration is our people, we continue to work tirelessly for each other. We are a family working unit and do everything we can to support and guide each other.

What motivates you in business and why?

Even through challenging times through Covid-19 and market disruption we have continued to be one of the market leaders in our area of law. Adlington Law has been nominated for numerous regional and national awards and even recently winning an industry award.

We are motivated to continue to give the best possible service to our clients and to be at the forefront of innovation across the sector.

Why is Lancashire a great location for a business?

We are proud Lancastrians and to bring a national industry award back to Chorley is an incredibly proud moment. Chorley is a great location to attract staff due to its network links too. The people are what make Lancashire great!

What would you say to someone who is considering using Boost?

Use it, sometimes you think that something is too good to be true – but genuinely the support that we have received has enabled us to continue to grow and flourish.

No matter what size of company you are, lean on Boost, and they can help – and it's fully funded, at no cost to the user.

What is your advice for anyone looking to grow a business?

Make sure you reach out to local councils, business support initiatives, local networking groups on a regular basis. They can help in a number of ways; from introductions to new contacts to personalised training sessions in areas where assistance is required.

Boost is helping Lancashire businesses. We have a range of funded support programmes and a team of business advisers you can talk to. To speak to someone from the Growth Hub about business support, contact Boost online or call 0800 488 0057.
