The Association of Business Mentors (ABM) is the professional association working to improve and professionalise business mentoring across the UK.
ABM mentors are highly experienced business people who have either started or run their own business, or played a significant operational role in such a business. As well as working in SMEs, some of our members also have experience in running a significant business unit in a large corporate.
ABM mentors provide all types of support to businesses, from strategy and planning, sales and marketing, HR, finance and growth to operations, IT/technology and much more.
The ABM has members throughout the UK and all of them have proven frontline business experience. The ABM works with SMEs and family businesses, providing support to both start-up and established businesses. Mentoring can be provided to business owners or to team members who have a management role in a business.
The ABM and its members offer a professional service on commercial terms. All enquiries should be made to Chris Dowling. Contact details have been provided to the right of this page.
1. What one top tip would you give to a business owner embarking on a growth plan?
Ensure you have a sound and well thought out strategy to include marketing, finance and funding, market research, your team and HR and a complete belief in your ability to achieve and meet your goals. When you create and write your growth plan, seek help from a professional business consultant or mentor to ensure nothing is omitted.
2. Why is Lancashire a great place to grow a business?
Lancashire has a great diversity of communities from the coast to the fells and from urban to rural. Communications are good with access to strategic motorways and the significant markets and business communities on Merseyside and in Greater Manchester.
3. Why are you backing Boost?
The business support work of the Growth Hub network across England is well recognised and widely used by businesses, especially SMEs. Boost is here to provide important support for growth and expansion of businesses, improving their performance, expanding and improving their workforce and contributing to a more resilient community.
